July and August Favorites

Hey guys!
As I mentioned before, these past two months have been hectic with all the work and travel on my calendar. My brother and his wife just recently had their first child, and my sister should be having her daughter very soon! I'm a very excited Auntie! I was able to attend my sister’s baby shower in Miami and then fly to D.C to meet my sweet nephew! Now that I’m back, I'm excited to share some of my personal photos from my trip with all of you as well as my some of my favorite travel essentials for this month.

Cross body purse:
Cross body bags are perfect for traveling! It hangs comfortably on your body without you having to physically hold on to it. It also makes it harder for you to lose your belongings or and be a target of theft. I currently am carrying the Lulu Print Fringe Cross body bag that I got from Nordstrom’s BP section. I love that this bang goes with all my outfits and has so much room! It has all sorts of pockets, but is still fairly small.

Phone case:
A cute phone case is essential for traveling! I purchased this case when I first bought my phone months ago and still use it to this day. I'm still obsessed. I usually struggle with finding a cute case that also protects my phone and this case does it all! My phone has taken many tumbles and shows no damage thanks to my Sonix case. I like that it has both the jelly and hard case, which provides extra protection for my phone. Sonix has so many designs that are to die for. I highly recommend you check them out!
Hand Sanitizer:
One thing I always carry when traveling is hand sanitizer! We all know that airports and airplanes are infested with germs, so I make sure to always have a yummy scented sanitizer on hand (no pun intended). I love the Bath and Body Works sanitizers because they’re the perfect size for traveling and they have the most amazing scents! As part of the store’s promotional discount, the more you buy the cheaper it is, so you better stock up.
Makeup For Ever:
For my birthday I always get a free beauty sample from Sephora. This year, my gift was from Makeup For Ever. The sample came with their best selling mascara and lipstick. I first started using the  Smoky Extravagant mascara which I quickly came to love! The shape of the brush was so unique and allowed me to reach every lash! It gave my lashes the long and full look that I love so much. I didn't try the lipstick until my trip to Miami. I'm not usually a lipstick user, especially if it’s red. I have never found a shade of red that looks good on me until this Lipstick.  The color is Rouge Artist Natural and it is a very light red color which looks amazing on many. I've seen this color on a few of my friends and it looks good on all of them. It’s like a universal red lipstick that is hydrating and long lasting. It doesn’t have a matte finish, but it is moisturizing and tastes yummy! Don't let the color deceive you, what you see on the stick is not as dark when applied to the lips.
Music:
One thing that makes sitting on a plane a little more bearable is having good music! Here are some songs to add to your playlist for your next big trip! Enjoy, and don't forget your headphones!

First stop Miami!
Miami is one of my favorite places to visit! Miami's culture is very different from what I'm used to here in Portland and is among one of the most glamorous cities I've been to. I decided while I was there I would try to fit in with the locals as best as I could. My first stop was a local salon called Blo where I got none other than a blowout. I was definitely hesitant at first because I associated a blowout with the little girls from Toddlers and Tiaras. As she washed and blow dried my hair I began to feel at ease assured that  I would not be walking out of salon with big Texas hair. At the Blo Bar you get to choose from a menu the style you want to accompany your blowout. I decided to go with the beach waves because hello, I'm in Miami! After I was done I felt sassy and ready to take over the town! It was the perfect look for the baby shower! If you ever stop by Miami and want to pamper yourself I definitely recommend you check out Blo.

Washington D.C
I love D.C! There is always something to do or see, I never get tired of being a tourist in the District. In fact I spent a day visiting the many sites and museums with my mom. We visited the Museum of Natural Science and made a quick stop at the White House. The main reason I was there though was to finally meet my sweet nephew Shayan! I'm so obsessed with him! He is the sweetest, most gentle baby. My favorite part was seeing my brother no longer in the role of just my brother, but also a husband and father! I must say, he and his wife are both doing an incredible job. I can't wait to see Shayan grow and be the incredible person he is destined to be! At this age he isn't doing much but eating and sleeping, but the few precious hours a day he was awake were very special, especially when I saw him in my own mothers arms. He looked right at her as she spoke to him, taking in every word she said. He was truly listening to her and looking at her as if he knew exactly what she was saying. It was quite a sight to see. I can't wait to visit again soon!
